Is this the sort of kit that comes to mind when you think of wood burning? This style of wood burning pen is still the most common in hobby shops, crafts stores and your grandparents attic. If your’e lucky, it may come with a few tips and even a heat regulator. Fine for burning your name into a baseball bat, but there’s so much more you can do.





On the left is an example of a modern pyrography set, and these are examples of what you can do with the right tools. No paint was used in Roberto Frangioni Piroritrattista Framars “King Wolf”. Each hair is burned in with a fine edged tool, and color is achieved by the amount of time and heat used. And how about this Ukulele by artist Dino Muradian? Imagine what you could do with items around your house. Of course these are extreme examples, and no one should expect to achieve this quality right off the bat.
